Mission Statement

Provide for the conservation of the soil and water resources of this County and for the control and prevention of soil erosion and for flood prevention or the conservation, development, utilization, and disposal of water, and thereby to stabilize ranching and farming operations, preserve natural resources, protect the tax base, control floods, prevent impairment of dams and reservoirs, preserve wildlife, protect public lands, and protect and promote the health, safety, and general welfare of the people of this County.

Land and Resource Planning

The district has adopted a Land and Resource Use Plan and Policy to guide participation in local, state, and federal land management decisions and conservation projects.

Water Quality and Watershed Initiatives

SWCCD helped establish watershed advisory groups and supports water quality monitoring and projects aimed at reducing E. coli and chloride pollution in the Bitter Creek and Killpecker Creek watersheds.

Economic Importance of Natural Resource Industries

The email states that agriculture, mining, and energy industries generate a significant share of county tax revenue and that SWCCD invests in projects that support these sectors and natural resource stewardship.

Federal Land and Resource Advocacy

SWCCD participates in federal land-use planning efforts to support public access, recreation, hunting, fishing, and continued multiple-use management of federal lands.

Regional Collaboration

The district works with other local governments and organizations on land use planning, water management, reclamation projects, energy development issues, and environmental stewardship.

Soil Surveys and Reclamation Support

SWCCD partners with agencies such as NRCS, BLM, and county government to accelerate soil surveys and provide technical support for development and land reclamation efforts.

Community Outreach

The district sells conservation tree seedlings, sponsors septic system workshops, and participates in educational events such as the Southwest Wyoming Resource Rendezvous.

Partnership with Little Snake River Conservation District

SWCCD collaborates on natural resource projects in eastern Sweetwater County, including water planning, land use planning, reclamation, and wild horse management.
